What’s my mission?
My mission is to build an army of empowered badass women who know their worth and see how beautiful they are before they hit their goal weight, how strong they are after they hit their goal weight, and to help them through the messy middle that’s in between the two.
What qualifies me to be able to help?
Eight years ago I began my weight loss journey. During this journey, I underwent a total body, mind, and soul transformation. I lost over 120 pounds, half of me. It took me two years to lose all of the weight. I did this through daily exercise, weight training, proper nutrition, and a whole helluva lot of soul searching. I have successfully maintained my weight loss for nearly a decade. I know all about what it takes to lose the weight, keep the weight off, and how to deal with the countless temptations, setbacks, and backslides that occur during and after your weight loss journey. I have lived it and I am still living it each and everyday.
I hold two college degrees. A bachelor's degree in Psychology and a master's degree in Social Work. I have always been intrigued with the human mind and in order to lose my weight, I delved into the psychology of being fat. After all, eating right and exercising may be the means to lose weight, but it's not what allows you to lose weight. Losing weight is 100% mental. All of the healthy choices and physical actions that are done to lose weight are first born in your brain. Without altering the way you think, it is impossible for a permanent change to occur.
I learned how to tackle my obesity from the inside out and my entire blog revolves around teaching others how to do the same.
What’s my passion?
My passion is to inspire women to look inside themselves, to see how amazing they truly are, and to begin health journeys of their own. We all are beautiful creatures. We all have a purpose here and we all owe it to the world around us to shine our light the way it was meant to be shone. We all owe it to ourselves to freely, happily, and unapologetically be nobody else but ourselves.
Who am I?
I am a 44 year old mommy of two beautiful little girls, ages 11 and 14, and I’m married to an amazing man who has been the love of my life for the past 19 years. The four of us are a bunch of goofballs. Inside jokes, silly videos, and our outrageous annual family Christmas cards are just a few ways that we have fun together.
I have a big laugh, an even bigger heart, a deep appreciation for well-delivered snark, and a long-time fondness for dirty words. Don’t worry, I’m not a trash talkin’ sailor on my blog. I just sprinkle it in every once in a while. You know, like when it’s absolutely necessary.
I love to laugh and make other people laugh, life is just too short not to have some fun. You’ll find a lot of lightheartedness and humor in my blog articles, even when I'm tackling some not-so-light topics. I’m a firm believer that laughter is medicine. I try to find the humor wherever I can, because it always helps to make the bad stuff suck a little less.
Just like you, I've been through my share of shit and have endured days that won't soon be forgotten. I believe that being happy isn't having a life void of problems, but rather knowing how to deal with them in the right way. For over a decade I chose to cope with my problems in the wrong way, a very unhealthy way. It resulted in me tipping the scales at 262 pounds and battling a slew of health issues because of it. It took me a long time to find my way back. But I did! So that means you can too! I’m hoping to help make your road back to health a lot less windy than mine was.
I realized if I could learn to conquer my obesity and all the demons that caused it that I could maybe, just maybe, inspire other women to do the same. It saddens me to watch women keep their heads down, constantly pull at their clothes out of self-consciousness, and put themselves last in all areas of their lives. I used to do that, all of it. When I see these women, I bear their heavy sadness as if it’s mine because it once was. I lived that way for a very long time. I know how hard it is to lift that weight off of your shoulders and to actually start doing something about it. I also know it's possible because I did it. And if I can do it, anybody can do it.
Along this crazy rollercoaster of a ride, I have not only learned how to live a healthy lifestyle but have learned priceless lessons about three very important people: who I was, who I became, and who I want to be. The most freeing realization that I learned throughout my journey was that the worth of these three people has absolutely nothing to do with the size of their asses. In the beginning of my weight loss journey, my only goal was to lose weight. By the end I had realized that losing weight was indeed a fabulous side effect, but what my journey was really about was gaining strength, gaining perspective, and gaining a fuller life.
It's amazing how health and fitness served as a portal into a new world where I learned to love and respect myself. A world where I can see my true beauty, my inner beauty. The beauty that makes me who I am.

Here's some of my life in pictures. I have included some before and after pics to show you the physical difference that my journey has made in my body. But what the pictures show you the most is the difference in my spirit. Health and fitness have allowed me to live a full active life with the three people who make my heart beat... my hubs and baby girls. I am so grateful for a second chance at life. Before my journey, I was suffering from many weight-related ailments and I was very depressed. Since taking control of my life, I have had a deep desire to live a vibrant life and I finally have the energy to do it!
